As Morocco becomes only the fourth African team to advance to the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals, some Nigerian sports enthusiasts criticize the Super Eagles.

As Morocco defeated Spain 3-0 in a shootout following a scoreless draw to go to the World Cup quarterfinals, Achraf Hakimi emerged as the match’s hero.

After 120 minutes, there was no way to separate the two sides, and Spain’s three penalties—two of which were beautifully saved by goalie Yaccine Bounou—were all missed.

That left PSG’s defender, Hakimi, to win it with his fearless penalty shot and ignite joyful celebrations in the fans.

Morocco supporters, who mostly crowded Education City Stadium, went crazy at the final whistle as their team advanced to the round of eight for the first time, where they will take on Portugal or Switzerland on Saturday.

After that, several sports enthusiasts in Nigeria began to tease the Super Eagles on their various Twitter feeds.
