Moises Caicedo needed to receive treatment during Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Aston Villa

A number of Chelsea stars have been given an extra few days to recover to face Crystal Palace on Monday evening. Earlier this week, the Blues put in a superb performance to knock Aston Villa out of the FA Cup in a fourth-round replay, although some fitness concerns emerged from the clash.

Benoit Badiashile left Villa Park clutching his groin with Mauricio Pochettino unsure if he will be back available to face the Eagles. Moises Caicedo was also pictured being attended to by the Chelsea medical staff however he was able to continue.

Levi Colwill missed the clash entirely after initially pulling out of the starting XI to face Villa in the cup at Stamford Bridge with it still unclear when he will return. Elsewhere, Romeo Lavia has spoken for the first time since Pochettino confirmed he will not return this month.

Levi Colwill

Injury: Knee.

What Pochettino has said: “Levi Colwill, we need to wait until Sunday to see if it’s possible to be available.”

Benoit Badiashile

Injury: Groin.

He started the FA Cup replay against Villa but had to be replaced with 10 minutes left. Badiashile appeared to be holding his hamstring.

What Pochettino has said: “Badiashile, we need to assess him. We still need to wait for the scan. I hope it’s not a big issue. We need to assess now and after we will know better, his situation.”

Romeo Lavia

Injury: Thigh.

The Ecuadorian went down against Villa in the second half. After being treated by the medical staff he returned to finish the game.

What Pochettino has said: “I think he feels well. We were talking and he has started his recovery, he is one day closer to being with the group. This is really positive, we are all positive around him, we are going to help, involved in this way.

“It is always tough for a player with a very complicated, difficult season for him. Now is the process to start to recover. One day less until he is part of the group and we are going to take it in a positive way because the most important thing is to start to solve the problem and of course, help him to be strong, being positive.”
